Yesterday is history, today is a gift, tomorrow is a mystery

These words will sound familiar to Dutch readers, and no, this vlog is not about a big dance festival.

Yesterday is history

In recent years, our lives have changed tremendously. In a positive sense, we believe, but sometimes I drift away with the thought of our old life. When I see Kay pushing some of my shoes aside to make room for his drone batteries, or when I cram a few more polo shirts into the closet, knowing they’ll come out wrinkled, I think of all the closet space I used to have. Even though I didn’t have enough space back then either, but that’s beside the point.

We used to have a beautiful house, an incredibly beautiful place for the kids to grow up. But that’s history. And that’s okay, it was high time for a new life, but sometimes I daydream. Our children will have memories later of searching for Easter eggs at an Austrian mountain hut with a pool, but also on a catamaran in a distant land.

Today is a gift

For that reason, we try to enjoy it intensely. Even though it might not seem like it in this video, I am completely happy with our life at sea, even if that means my wardrobe is only a fraction of what it used to be. I joked recently: I’ll just wear my Louboutins to this restaurant, because I’m doomed to walk on sandy beaches for the next few years. That joke has been haunting me for months now.

Every day we experience something new, not always pleasant, but that’s the case in any life. We work hard to make this dream come true, and it truly is a privileged position to spend every day fully with our family, in the most beautiful places on earth.

Our youngest can already tell that he celebrated his fourth birthday in Croatia, on a boat. With a cake that mommy and daddy made for him. Of course, they miss the birthday parties, treats, and friends. We can only hope that the life we give them in exchange for this is worth more than everything they miss

Tomorrow is a mystery

We don’t know where we’ll be tomorrow. There’s no regularity of work and weekends, or between day and night. The wind and the sea determine what our life looks like, and it can be different every day.

No rigid framework and rat race, but being free and seeking adventure.
